We
help control the feral cat population
There
are thousands of homeless cats in the Middle Keys and as many as sixty
million in the United States today. Colonies of feral (stray) cats form and
multiply wherever they can find a food source, however meager, including
dumpsters and vermin. Unless cared for, these abandoned ferals suffer
terribly from parasites, diseases and often die slow, painful deaths. Half
of all homeless kittens die within two months of birth. When the cats live
to maturity, nearby residents complain about their presence.

There is a solution.
Forgotten Felines is a nonprofit organization
established in 1997 by a group of concerned Middle Keys citizens. Our
primary goal is to trap, spay/neuter and treat feral cats. Programs such as
ours have been proven all over the U.S., U.K., and Europe and are far more
successful than the trap and kill approach. Altered cats will defend their
territory, guard their food source and die within a few years - - without
ever reproducing. If you remove a feral cat from an area, another will
simply move in and begin the mating cycle all over again.
We can help.
Forgotten
Felines offers assistance, either directly or by referral, to anyone in
need of help with homeless cats. If you know of a feral cat in distress, or
would like information, call (305) 743-2520.
